Our lady of Lourdes

Today we celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.

One of the most famous apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady appeared to Bernadette Soubirous for the first time on the 11th February 1858 and continued until 25th March 1858. Bernadette described the visions she saw as the lovely lady who was wearing a white dress, a blue girdle and a yellow rose on each foot, the same colour as the chain of her Rosary. She invited Bernadette to build a chapel, pray for sinner and drink from the spring.

Today Lourdes is a major catholic pilgrimage sight which is visited by people from all over the world. The spring Our Lady asked Bernadette to drink from is know to have healing properties and has been responsible for many miracles.

Today we pray especially for the sick and their caregivers.

Our Lady of Lourdes pray for us.
