Last week American President Donald Trump, accompanied by religious leaders, announced a National Day of Prayer and signed an executive order to repeal the Johnson amendment, with the purpose of promoting religious liberty and free speech. The Johnson amendment had removed not-for profit organisations’ tax exemption if they expressed political opinions. He also commended the Little Sisters of the Poor in standing up for their beliefs, when the government under President Obama had wanted the Sisters to pay for medical insurance that provided contraception and abortion.
