What is Man that One is Mindful of Him?

If you have never heard of Professor Jerome Lejeune (1926 -1994), then this huge gap needs to be filled as soon as possible.  Frances Phillips reports that there is currently an exhibition at the Rimini conference, of this great mans’ life and work http://www.catholicherald.co.uk/commentandblogs/2012/08/24/professor-lejeune-a-patron-saint-of-downs-syndrome/ which makes interesting reading.

I had the pleasure of meeting Professor Lejeune in 1990 when he spoke at a  SPUC conference about his discovery of the cause of Downs Syndrome.   It was a life changing moment to hear of  this mans’ courage in standing up to the medical profession when he realised what his discovery would be used for – to seek and destroy unborn babies with Trisomy  21.

Frances Phillips talks about this great man and the legacy he left the pro-life movement.   Furthermore the good news  that the  cause for his sainthood is being investigated is to be rejoiced over.  Wouldn’t it be great to have another pro-life saint to guide us just as we have in St Gianna Molla?  We need an inspiring voice to lead us to continue to fight against all the attacks on life that come from all sides and renewed interest in Professor Lejeune is just the man for the job.
