Abortion Providers Amendment

29Aug11

The weekend papers have been full of the news that a Conservative backbencher, Nadine Dorries and Labour M.P. Frank Field have put forward an amendment to the health bill which would strip abortion providers such as Marie Stopes of their pregnancy counselling roles, opening them up to tenders from “independent organisations”.

As usual whenever the subject of abortion  comes up in the media there is much debate as to the different opinions and this is where we need to make sure that the truth about how abortion hurts women and their babies is out there in the public domain.  The best way is to respond to newspaper articles, blog postings and t.v. programmes with short, sharp comments which emphasise that women need to know the truth about abortion from independent organisations so they can make a decision based on knowledge without any pressure.  There is an article in The Guardian demonstrates this point at http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/aug/28/christain-activists-grab-moral-agenda?INTCMP=SRCH and also in The Independent at http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/government-launches-abortion-advice-service-2345524  Please please respond to these articles and any thing else you see and let us know
