Lenten Thought

Lent is a time to truly focus on our prayer lives. In the gospel reading today, God is not calling us to come to Him with a laundry list of our daily desires, but rather to pray that His will be done. God sees the big picture. He knows what is best for us and what will make us happy.

Therefore, we are to pray to grow closer to the Lord, to praise Him for the good in our lives and to ask for strength in dealing with the bad.  When we do this, when we draw near to our Heavenly Father, our wants disappear. The appeals of our hearts and the will of the Lord become one. We begin living, not for our own selfish desires, but as God yearns for us to live. Only then can we find true happiness.
