St Kentigerns Visit
St Kentigerns’ pro-life group pupils visited us here at the centre on Monday 20th June for an end of term outing to end a very succesful, pro-life year for the group. We welcomed 14 pupils of various ages from S1-S6 for the day. We started the day over juice and biscuits discussing the groups’ activities throughout the year and how they had attracted new members and spread the pro-life word around the school. Activities included an assembly presentation, staff coffee morning , displays in the foyer, collecting small change for small lives and a Jesse tree during Advent where everyone was invited to pick a picture of an item they could donate during Advent. It was wonderful to hear the enthusiasm of the pupils and witness their commitment.
Then the pupils helped load items to be sold in our charity shop and we wondered down to Precious things to unload and have a look at our little shop. Then off to Holy Cross Church for the Angelus.
After lunch the pupils were set to work on various tasks that needed doing around the centre. Everyone was very enthusiastic and got stuck in to whatever they were asked. During lunch the pupils had been asked to write down any questions or comments they had and put them into our specially designed box!
At the end of the day we went through the box and found that a lot of pupils didn’t know who Cardinal Winning was so we talked about the great man and what he said and did.
Other comments included;I like the little shop, does the money you make come to you?
I really enjoyed today because i learned about loads of things like what a baby looks like at 6 weeks old and we walked down the biggest aisle in Scotland!! (that’s at Holy Cross church)
How long has the centre been running? (14years)
Thank you very much, this was a very enjoyable experience.
How do you become a volunteer at the pro-life centre?
Today was the most fun i’ve had in ages!
At the end of the day St Kentigerns pro-life group gave a cheque for the Initiative see photo above! Many thanks for the cheque and for your work for unborn children!
